Tarim Oilfield Drills 20 Ultra-Deep Wells
Summary:On March 27, China National Petroleum Corporation’s Tarim Oilfield reported that it has commenced drilling 20 ultra-deep wells this year, with an average well depth exceeding 7,460 meters, in order to accelerate the exploration and development of oil and gas resources beneath vast expanses of yellow sand.
On March 27, China National Petroleum Corporation’s Tarim Oilfield reported that it has commenced drilling 20 ultra-deep wells this year, with an average well depth exceeding 7,460 meters, in order to accelerate the exploration and development of oil and gas resources beneath vast expanses of yellow sand.
Recently, Well Mandsen 301-H4, located in the heart of the Taklamakan Desert, has surpassed the 8,000-meter mark in drilling depth. With a design depth of 8,600 meters, this well is the deepest drilled so far this year and has now successfully penetrated the oil-bearing formation.

In addition, the Tarim Oilfield has deployed a number of ultra-deep key exploration wells at the southern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains and the piedmont of the Kunlun Mountains, opening up a new chapter in increasing reserves and boosting production of ultra-deep oil and gas in the Tarim Basin.
